Proximo to Build Cook Shop Database for Food Bank
25 August 2009
Proximo Consulting Services, Inc. has been awarded a contract by the Food Bank for New York City to create the CookShop On-Line Database.
Throughout the five boroughs, low-income neighborhoods are characterized by a lack of affordable, nutritious food, chronically stretched budgets and the prevalence of low-cost junk food. Among other problems, these circumstances contribute to high concentrations of diet-related conditions such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension. The Food Bank's Nutrition & Health Education Programs combat food poverty by helping New Yorkers in need move toward healthy lifestyles and supporting our network of food assistance programs to build capacity and improve existing services.
The CookShop On-Line Database will enable the Food Bank to manage the yearly programs it administers. These programs are the core of the CookShop system. When a site applies for a program, there is a process that determines if the site is compliant. Once the site is determined to be compliant, personnel from the sites are granted privileges to log on and submit information about the program to the Food Bank, whose staff would then have the ability to analyze the data collected.
This is the second major contract awarded by the Food Bank to Proximo Consulting Services, the first having been a new tablet PC-based system for their Agency Relations department that completely automates the filling out and submitting of extensive forms by field staff.
